How did you know you wanted to be an author?: I've been writing short stories and poems since I was a little girl. My mother flooded me with books and encouraged me to read at an early age. i remember saying to myself that one day I wanted to see my name on a book, and by age 13 I had my first poem published in a collective poetry book.
What is your advice for aspiring authors?: Use your life experiences, good or bad, to push the emotions from your heart through to your fingers and get your story down on paper. The more you procrastinate, the more fears can take over, sometimes blocking us from what we are destined to do and who we are destined to become in this life.
Do you have any writing rituals or practices?: I create a Vision Board in PowerPoint for every chapter of the book before I type it up in MS Word.
What message do you want readers to remember?: We are stronger than we think. No situation is permanent. You just have to make a plan and stick with it. There IS a light at the end of the tunnel. And don't forget to keep journaling!
