How Did You Know You Wanted To Be An Author? I wanted to make a picture book about Frazie, the little American Red Squirrel, and illustrate it with my photographs. That spring I saw Margot the groundhog waking up after hibernation. In one or another way she told me: ‘No, it's not about Frazie, it’s about me, Margot you’ll have to write’. I don’t know how she did it, but I found myself searching for my woodchuck images. And so, probably totally different than any other writer, my books didn’t start with words. It started with my photos.
What Is Your Advice For Aspiring Authors? If this is what you like and want to do, well don’t give up and go for it. Write the first draft, and then revise and rewrite again and again. Then ask someone to edit. It is good to have some beta readers, they will give you such important feedback, but in the end, it is your book.
The road can be long and not easy to go, but use difficulties and critics to grow and become a better writer.
