How Did You Know You Wanted To Be An Author? I wasn’t actively “looking” to acquire the title of author. Once I embarked upon the breast cancer journey, I realized that there was a story inside of me that needed to be shared. Becoming an author actually “found” me. As a former elementary school teacher, I have always enjoyed writing. This project allowed me to put my gift as a speaker into words. The book is another way for me to motivate others to think differently about their health and inspire them to make the appropriate changes.
What Is Your Advice For Aspiring Authors? When you realize that you have been chosen to share your story with the world, be sure to finish what you started. The life challenge you overcame makes you uniquely qualified to help others. Your story, your “mess,” is now a message of hope. Know that your literary voice needs to be heard. Clarity about your “why” will give you strength to move beyond the obstacles that arise in the book writing process. Write your book and prepare to touch and transform lives in ways that you never imagined.
