How did you know you wanted to be an author? I grew up with an oral heritage of story-telling. My grandmother and my mother often told stories of the past that played out as movies in my mind. I always thought I would someday write them down. These stories have become the basis of much of my writing.
What is your advice for aspiring authors? If you dream it, you can do it. I always dreamed of becoming an author. I just needed to be patient enough to make the dream come true.
Do you have any writing rituals or practices? I am an undisciplined writer. I write when the muse visits me and says it’s time…usually around 4:00 a.m.!
What message to you want readers to remember? No matter what genre you prefer, the best stories are those where a reader can find some commonality with the characters. That sense of identify allows the reader to suspend reality and enter the world created by the author.
