How did you know you wanted to be an author?: I can't remember. I've been writing since I was in second grade and I always wanted to write "great" books that would still be read hundreds of years after I was dead. Quality and timelessness was always more important than commercial success.
What is your advice for aspiring authors?: Don't write unless you have something to say, and if you have something worth saying then be persistent and true to yourself.
Do you have any writing rituals or practices?: None that I think worth sharing.
What message do you want readers to remember?: Reading historical fiction will teach you not about history but about the present from a new perspective. We can understand ourselves better if we understand the past.
How can fans get in contact with you?: Please send me an email at: firstname.lastname@example.org or go to any of my websites and use the "contact" form. Here's a link to the page on my author website: http://www.helenapschrader.com/contact.html
