How did you know you wanted to be an author?: From a very early age, books were my best friends. As I grew older, I realized that through writing, I could create worlds and characters that my own shyness could never achieve. My characters became my alter ego, possessing the qualities I wanted for myself. Their strength has made me more self-confident and adventurous. I never tire of creating new challenges for them to overcome, and in so doing, gain some of the fearlessness I've created them to have.
What is your advice for aspiring authors?: Never let anyone tell you your work is no good. If you sense it isn't great yet, keep writing. Self-publish if you have to, but get your work out there. Never stop writing. The best authors grow with each new work. Learn from the best and strive to improve.
Do you have any writing rituals or practices?: I don't write when I'm sick or tired. If I write when I'm tired, I get tired writing. Be fresh and eager when you sit at the keyboard, where you should be putting on paper what's already in your head. Compose in your head, not on the page.
What message do you want readers to remember?: There's something in my novels for both male and female readers. These are men's adventure novels but with female protagonists, who, though bold, fearless, adventurous and stubborn, never stop being ladies, with the sophistication and refinement required of them.
How can fans get in contact with you?: I can be reached through my facebook author page: james scott author, or by email at email@example.com.
