How did you know you wanted to be an author? My father was a writer, although never traditionally-published, and I think it was sort of in my genes. Later, after Mom died, I realized she was a writer too.
What is your advice for aspiring authors? Write all of the time. Watch people. Listen to their voices. Live life, explore, dream. Then, write it all down. Don’t lose your dream. Don’t give up.
Do you have any writing rituals or practices? I write on the couch, hence the name of my newsletter, WRITING FROM THE COUCH. I write and read every day. I have to write in the morning whether that is to a novel or to my blog and I read in the afternoon and evening.
What message to you want readers to remember? I think what I hope people will know is that I was thinking of someone specific–a real person whether living or dead–when writing each of my stories. And that I hope the stories are relatable to my readers.
