Author Bio: My name is Cilaye Watson, I was born in South Africa in 1982 and soon moved to Zimbabwe when I was a young child to pursue the rest of my childhood. Growing up in Africa was rather captivating, I had a rich sense of the world around me and an extraordinary fascination with all the animals and insects that seemed to be right in front of my nose! Being the last of 10 children, most of my siblings had already began their own lives and had already left home by the time I had arrived. I enjoyed many things as a child, including immersing myself with endless possibilities that the privilege of living in Zimbabwe had presented to me. These things seemed to involve largely around my curiosity for all the wildlife around me, i was often off on my own tangent climbing trees and building houses out of sticks for the millipedes that seemed to be everywhere and anywhere that I was. Along with my love of nature, I soon emerged to be introduced into the small array of children’s books that my mother had kept aside from my siblings childhoods. Often my parents had many tasks to complete whilst I was wizzing around trying to entertain myself with the world around me, therefore I began engaging with these books one day that I had found in the kitchen underneath a dusty pile of cookery books. The ability to imagine myself in the story and feel as if I were there with the characters, despite being short stories meant only for small children, amazed me and before I knew it created a lifetime of love for books and knew that one day more than anything else I wanted to be an author! As I grew up and went through school, I decided that I would attempt to make a better life for myself and further my chances to be successful and happy. This meant that I would soon travel across the world to another continent and start my adult life in London, England. The whole experience was frightening yet necessary as I travelled to England and began my new life in my early twenties. As I got older I had 4 children, 1 boy, 3 girls and 1 set of twins all of whom were born in the UK. My struggles with mental illness put a hold on my ambitions to become the author I had always wanted to be, however through out the years I became more confident and was determined to make myself and my children proud and later began writing my first children’s book - The Artistic Fairy. With many more books to appear in the series as my love for writing grows, I would also love to branch into another style of writing and publish my autobiography in a few years from now. I hope to be myself through my career and enjoy every minute that writing strengthens my imagination, and truly make an impact on those who read my books in the future.
