How did you know you wanted to be an author?: When I lived in Adelaide, Australia, I came across an advert promoting a 6-week weekend course on ‘How To Write Your Novel’. Curious, I enrolled. I listened spellbound to the tutor and within the first 20 minutes I knew I was going to give it a go – I was going to write a novel. Once I started writing I knew I’d found my passion.
What is your advice for aspiring authors?: Write your first draft with abandon - don't censor or limit your creativity and don't stop to edit. Future edits can fix any issues.
Do you have any writing rituals or practices?: I try to write every day. I keep a notebook that lists which project and how many words I achieved each day.
What message do you want readers to remember?: Tails is a heart-warming story about overcoming adversity, and the value of loyalty and friendship.
