How did you know you wanted to be an author?: I've always been a voracious reader, but I didn't know I wanted to be an author until I started creative writing as a hobby on my commute to and from work. Once I finished my first (terrible) novel, I was hooked on the idea of writing as a career.
What is your advice for aspiring authors?: If you want to be a professional, published author, you have to make writing a priority in your life. Create a routine and stick to it! And always remember, like any skill, writing takes practice and persistence to master. Your first novel or three will probably be terrible, but keep at it and eventually you'll have something people will want to read.
Do you have any writing rituals or practices?: For me, it's all about creating a schedule and sticking to it. I'm a stay-at-home-mom, so I write while my girls are in school and after they go to bed. I make sure I protect that time...no laundry allowed. ;-)
How can fans get in contact with you?: You can always learn more about me and my books on my website at www.meganhaskell.com. I mostly hang out on Facebook (www.facebook.com/meganhaskellauthor) and sometimes Twitter (@meganphaskell).
