How did you know you wanted to be an author? I didn’t know at first…but when I was 70, I was asked to write a book for men on professional and personal development… and that was where it began. Now four best sellers and award winning books later, I’m finally ready to call myself an author.
What is your advice for aspiring authors? Write about what you love and know. Find a place that is your writing space and make this space special where you allow your thoughts to hit the paper. Just write… then go back and edit. Don’t second guess it. Enjoy the journey… you can’t imagine where it will take you.
Do you have any writing rituals or practices? I calendared my writing day each week and guarded it with my life. It was a very important appointment. I also used post notes on a foam core board to organize my chapters and the topics within, including quotes, interviews etc. If needed I could move them around. This kept me focused.
What message do you want readers to remember? You have greatness in you… You were designed with it already there. Now use your purpose to share this with others. You a unique, don’t try to be like someone else. Stay in your own lane, that is where your happiness is.
I like to say, “Reach for your own personal A+ and never settle for 2nd best.”
