How did you know you wanted to be an author?: I have been fascinated with story-telling ever since I can remember. As a child and even during my professional years I would often wonder around for days with a story building in my head. It is a compulsion that I guess is called “author” if you try to do it commercially.
What is your advice for aspiring authors?: Always try to follow your heart. Be true to your voice.
Do you have any writing rituals or practices?: I do most of my writing in the twilight hours – from before dawn and around sunset. That’s when I in my world can disengage from the demands of living and become quiet. I seldom write for more than about an hour or two at a time before I need to stop and take a walk around the farm.
What message do you want readers to remember?: Look for the fundamental truth in everything, including in yourself and try to hold on to it.
