How Did You Know You Wanted To Be An Author? I started writing on a hockey message board. That turned into writing a successful hockey blog. Then I had one idea for a screenplay so I wrote it. That idea turned into loads of other ideas. Ten screenplays and twenty-five awards later I was urged by my wife to turn one of them into a book -- so I did. Now I have three children's books, am working on my eleventh screenplay, and have many more ideas for both mediums. But the best part - I now can't imagine a life without writing in it!
What Is Your Advice For Aspiring Authors? Be original. As independent authors embrace the freedom to tell your original story in your original voice. You'll never stand out in this saturated market playing it safe.
Oh, and hire an editor ... and a professional cover designer because EVERYONE judges a book by its cover!
