How Did You Know You Wanted To Be An Author? My english professor pulled me aside one day and told me I should pursue writing as a career. It was a great confidence booster, but I didn't know what to direction to go in. I didn't think I had much of a story to tell.
I ended up meeting a girl that was really into reading, and in order to connect with her on a deeper level, I started writing short stories for her. She thought they were amusing and intriguing, and urged me to write more. Before I knew it, I had a whole book.
What Is Your Advice For Aspiring Authors? Three things aspiring authors should do:
1. Start writing: Jumping into the journey helped me find my way, and I was amazed at how much my story took off once I stepped into it.
2. Read more: Read everything you can, inside and outside of your genre. It will help hone your craft, and inspire you to tell your story.
3. Share your writing: Give your story to friends and family, or find an author or teacher to give you notes. It makes you vulnerable, but their support means everything.
