How did you know you wanted to be an author? It just kind of happened to be honest. I was never planning on being an author. I had a story and was writing it down for no other reason but my own amusement and compulsions to complete it once I got started. One day a friend saw it on my computer and suggested I present it to someone. I did and then I realized from that point I wanted to be an author.
What is your advice for aspiring authors? I know some will disagree but I think you should write the way you want to write, edit later, adjust if you absolutely must. The point is, be honest to yourself and your story, let it flow and don’t try to change it into anything, let it become. You might not always know the ending that you thought you did when you first started writing.
Do you have any writing rituals or practices?Just get at it when the idea is there. Keep paper handy. I do. Even by my bed. I wake up from a weird dream or have a thought while I am laying there at night and I can instantly make a note to remember. Also music. I love to listen to music and try to stay away from words but not always.
What message to you want readers to remember?Be true to yourself and don’t be so afraid of what your readers will think. Once you start adjusting for all that you will look back on your story and realize it isn’t your story anymore. But still, you should care
