How did you know you wanted to be an author?: When I became a feminist I realised I had a story to tell. As time went on I have found many stories that I feel must be told.
What is your advice for aspiring authors?: You have to love it and be totally committed to spending years and possibly not being paid much.
Do you have any writing rituals or practices?: They have varied over the years, but writing regularly is the most important thing. A poem a day, for example. There will be dross, but also some gems.
What message do you want readers to remember?: That the most important stories are the ones you aren't hearing. Dark Matters is a story of terrible violence against lesbians, it's also a love story and a mystery.
