How did you know you wanted to be an author?: I studied journalism in college and happened to sign up for a creative writing course. I discovered fiction is a lot more fun than reporting the news.
What is your advice for aspiring authors?: Keep at it. I sold my first novel to Ballantine in 1986 and it languished there. It will finally see daylight on Amazon next year.
Do you have any writing rituals or practices?: Take lots of breaks. Get up and move around. Changing locations and positions refreshes the mind as well as the body.
What message do you want readers to remember?: Although I write action/adventure novels, most of the settings involve exotic locations. If life offers you a chance to travel, take it. If it doesn't, exciting fiction can fill the bill.
