How did you know you wanted to be an author?: Growing up, both Zoe and I were always fond of story telling – writing them, reading them, making them up, etc. While our father dropped us off to elementary school we would take turns writing or illustrating stories. At the end of our elementary years, we had a few journals just filled with stories that we created. After we saw how creative our stories were, our parents and older sisters encouraged us to become authors.
What is your advice for aspiring authors?: We believe anyone can become an author. If you enjoy writing and putting a spin on things, then writing is for you. Just make sure you are writing for yourself and nobody else because, this will allow your juices and creativity to really flow.
Do you have any writing rituals or practices?: We just like to write freely and get into a calm, quiet environment and allow our creativity to flow. But, if it helps, you can play music to clear your mind and relax.
What message do you want readers to remember?: We want our readers to remember that it takes time to develop great stories and not to worry if it takes longer than you expected it to take. But, before you share your story with the world, make sure you are proud of it and know you did the best you could. Also, if you are having trouble coming up with ideas, try to take a step back and relax and give your mind a break and allow the ideas to come to you.
