How did you know you wanted to be an author? I didn’t know that I would be an author in the first place. It was an accident. I knew I could write well, but I thought that my writing could help me to become a good English teacher, not an author. I always wanted to be a teacher. Becoming an author was by accident.
What is your advice for aspiring authors? Read and write everyday. Keep a journal or diary always with you, and write on whatever topic you wish, even if it is about your bowel movements ! You must read books to churn your grey cells into the curd of new ideas for stories, essays, poems, etc. Never take a break from writing or reading books.
Do you have any writing rituals or practices?I am a teacher and run my own tutorial so I rarely get time during the academic year to write. But still, I make it a point to write whenever I am not teaching or during the school holidays. I have my own office where I write, but I am not fussy about where I need to write. I keep a diary and certain journals where I write about things happening in my life, and about the people, animals, books, plant,s etc., that have had an affect in my life. I read everyday, but I write only when I get a breather from teaching.
What message to you want readers to remember? That I dedicated my whole life to the ‘Word’. I can’t pray or ‘talk’ to God. Reading, writing and teaching is my way of praying. I want readers to remember to love books for eternity. I want to love books for eternity. Books are better than people. Books have the ‘Word’ in them, and the ‘Word’ started out as a book !
How can fans get in contact with you? They can contact me through my publishing house email: email@example.com if they have any queries.
They are also welcome to follow and engage with me on Twitter and on Goodreads. In fact, I would appreciate if, after reading my book, they post a review of it on Amazon and on Goodreads, and send me a link on my email, so that I can personally acknowledge it.
In the coming months, my publishing house, Fiza Pathan Publishing OPC Private Limited, under its Imprint: Freedom With Pluralism ®, is bringing out a one-of-a-kind LGBT book of short stories, and some ‘Rare Children Classic’ books, which have been abridged and retold by me, in collaboration with another author, and beautifully illustrated by a talented artist and his team of young illustrators.
