How did you know you wanted to be an author? I’d always enjoyed reading and I was a huge daydreamer as a child, (still am) always making up stories. I wrote a play in 6th grade and the teacher allowed us to perform it for the school.
I spent many hours reading, and thanks to my mom’s love of romance books, as a young woman I stumbled across Rosemary Rogers and her “Sweet Savage Love” novel on my mother’s bookshelf, starting my love of romance novels and the rich world inside each one. It wasn ‘t until later in life and after reading many books by Nora Roberts and Christine Feehan, that I decided to try my hand at writing.
What is your advice for aspiring authors? Take time to write every day and read what you love to write. The best way to learn your craft is to read other successful authors.
Do you have any writing rituals or practices?I need absolute quiet when I write. I love music and become inspired by many songs, but I must turn it off when I sit to write and that lets me into my character’s head.
What message to you want readers to remember? As a woman, and the fact that I have mostly female readers, I want them to remember that they are the only ones who should have power of their lives. Be yourself and love yourself first.
