How did you know you wanted to be an author? I always told myself, and sometimes my friends, stories. I didn’t know that was my calling. For me, being a writer was far beyond what I could do. One day, it just became easier to write than not write.
What is your advice for aspiring authors? Follow your heart. Actually, the joy is in the work itself and not the finished product so don’t write for anyone but yourself.
Do you have any writing rituals or practices?Yes, I go in there every day and sit down at the computer. Routine is just as important for writers as it is for any other type of endeavour. We make too much of talent and too little of hard work.
What message to you want readers to remember? In the end, my books are about survival and friendship. Sometimes we just have to go forward and endure. It helps to see characters in books overcoming seemingly insurmountable difficulties. I hope my stories lift my readers’ spirits.
