How did you know you wanted to be an author? I didn’t, but I knew my story wanted to be told. It lived within me and haunted me, so 25 years ago I sat down and started writing, which led me to research, reflection and the long and laborious work of writing and rewriting my memoir trilogy.
What is your advice for aspiring authors? Don’t do it — unless you are made of steel!
Do you have any writing rituals or practices? I make a point of writing every day. I sit down and write until I’m tired. I keep my “office” space separate from my house. I listen to music. When the 45 minute CD is over, I make myself get up, stretch and drink a cup of tea. I also do my own exercise program Aerobics With Soul ®. That keeps me going!
What message to you want readers to remember? This is a memoir — what I remember of my life and what I choose to share. Don’t forget to find and listen to your own “Fat Mary.”
How can fans get in contact with you? Through my web site www.MariaNhambu.com and maria@MariaNhambu.com and through my author page on Facebook.
