How did you know you wanted to be an author? It’s in my blood. I grew up with grandparents who instilled in me an important ancestor who was one of americas first novelists. And as an artist I always want to accompany my works, with words. It was James Fenimore Cooper.
What is your advice for aspiring authors? I had to learn and relearn again and again my subject. Study and take all the time necessary to speak your truth. And just when I thought I had a handle on the learning, well I found myself back at the drawing board again. Its a ever evolving process. Embrace it.
Do you have any writing rituals or practices? I write backwards,(not spelling) actual sentences are written out of sequence. Once I have a paragraph written, I go back and read and see that I have written it backwards. The last sentence gets switched to the first in the editing process. And it reads well! Happens all the time!
What message to you want readers to remember? I want readers to take away new ways of being with animals that do not require force or abuse. There are subtle ways we can connect to these incredible beings.
